Air India operated an Airbus A320 aircraft calling the occurrence regrettable

An investigation of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) into an Air India aircraft stated that operated without airworthiness, flying at least eight times before being grounded, the airline expressed that the occurrence was “regrettable” and has launched a thorough internal inquiry.

The Airbus A320 involved was utilized with an “expired airworthiness licence” at least eight times in the previous month before the expiration was noted and the aircraft was prohibited from flying. The A320 remains out of service while the DGCA conducts its investigation.

The DGCA issues the Certificate of Airworthiness, which is renewed annually only if the aircraft is deemed safe for flight.

Aviation officials have stated that flying an aircraft without valid licenses and certificates constitutes a serious offense.

Air India released a statement acknowledging that “an incident involving one of our aircraft operating without an airworthiness review certificate is regrettable.”

As soon as we became aware of this situation, we promptly reported it to the DGCA, and all individuals involved in the decision-making have been suspended while further evaluation is conducted. We have commenced a thorough internal investigation and are fully cooperating with the regulator,” a spokesperson for Air India mentioned.

The airline added that it is “committed to upholding the highest standards of operational integrity and safety, and any failure to adhere to established compliance protocols is regarded with the utmost seriousness and is deemed unacceptable by our organization.

Earlier this year, Air India Flight 171, traveling from Ahmedabad to London, tragically crashed 32 seconds after takeoff on June 12.

Out of the 12 crew members and 229 passengers on board, only one passenger survived, while 19 individuals on the ground lost their lives, and 67 others sustained serious injuries.

According to the airline, 95 percent of the families of the 171 Dreamliner crash, which occurred shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, have received interim compensation.
