Leading Indian airline IndiGo declared on Sunday that it has inked a new contract with Virgin Atlantic, Air France-KLM, and Delta Air Lines, three significant foreign airlines. This action is a component of IndiGo’s strategy to increase the number of long-haul flights it offers to North America, Europe, and the UK.

By connecting to flights run by the partner airlines, IndiGo customers will have an easier time getting to destinations in these regions. The airlines will collaborate to provide enhanced loyalty program advantages, a more seamless travel experience, and better connectivity.

Pieter Elbers, the CEO of IndiGo, stated in a statement that the airline is eager to begin long-haul flights this summer. He went on to say that the deal will improve the flying experience and provide passengers with access to a wide worldwide network. IndiGo welcomed Delta Air Lines as a new partner as part of this agreement.

Since 2022, the airline and Air France-KLM have been collaborating. Following the completion of all regulatory permissions, travelers will be able to use the IndiGo website to immediately book connecting flights on Virgin Atlantic, Delta, and Air France-KLM.

Through the arrangement, IndiGo clients can connect to 30 European locations from Amsterdam on KLM flights, as well as to North America on flights run by either KLM or Delta. Virgin Atlantic also offers flights from Manchester to a number of US destinations.

Additionally, starting in September 2025, Air France-KLM will start offering IndiGo-operated flights to 24 locations outside of Hyderabad. After obtaining the necessary clearances, Delta Air Lines plans to resume flights between Atlanta and Delhi; however, the launch date will be disclosed later.

Additionally, this arrangement lays the groundwork for increased collaboration amongst the four airlines. It covers potential partnerships in fields like sales, freight, frequent flyer programs, and route planning.

Later this year, IndiGo will lease six Boeing 787 aircraft in preparation for its long-haul expansion. Additionally, the airline has bought 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft, with the possibility of purchasing an additional 70.

With the aid of these wide-body aircraft, IndiGo will be able to expand its international route network and fortify its alliance with participating international airlines.
