PM Modi opens the country's first Namo Bharat RRTS

Speaking at the inauguration of India’s first Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and the dedication of the 82-kilometer Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor to the nation on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the event as the dawn of a new age of infrastructure for Uttar Pradesh and the entire country.

Today, Uttar Pradesh and the entire country are witnessing a new era of world-class infrastructure,” the Prime Minister stated in a speech to a crowd in Meerut. He called the opening of the Meerut Metro, the Namo Bharat train, and the new RRTS segment a significant advancement in making life in the National Capital Region (NCR) “simpler, smoother, and more convenient.”

The Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, both firsts for India, were launched from the same platform and will share tracks and stations. The Prime Minister stated, “For the first time in the nation, the Metro rail and Namo Bharat will share the same track and station. From the same platform, one will be able to travel within the city, and from that same station, one can also commute directly to and from Delhi.”

“Our work culture is such that once the foundation stone of a task is laid, day and night are merged to complete it, that is why now projects do not remain pending like before,” PM Modi said, emphasizing the government’s strategy for infrastructure development. He continued by saying that he had the pleasure of laying the cornerstone for both the Namo Bharat and Metro services, and that he was now fortunate enough to launch them.

During his visit, the Prime Minister rode the Meerut Metro and spoke with pupils and passengers. He characterized the project as a symbol of “Nari Shakti,” emphasizing that many train operators and station control personnel are women.

Before 2014, metro services only ran in five Indian cities, but now they operate in over 25, making India home to the third-largest metro network in the world, Prime Minister Modi stated in reference to the national expansion of metro networks.

The Prime Minister emphasized the strategic integration of Indian Railways, metro services, and bus stands at important stations like Meerut, Ghaziabad, Anand Vihar, and Sarai Kale Khan, noting that the system will alleviate daily commuting and lessen the demand for workers and students to live in rented housing in Delhi.

Many developed countries of the world are today signing trade agreements with India,” Prime Minister Modi stated, underscoring the nation’s growing position in the world. Developed nations are now keen to collaborate with India. They see their own future in India’s development and they see hope in India’s youth power. He also said that India is now seen by the globe as a nation that can address the issues of the twenty-first century.

The Prime Minister emphasized a ₹10,000 crore special fund, which was included in the Union Budget, to make credit easier for MSMEs when discussing financial programs. Additionally, he mentioned initiatives to support weavers and small businesses, such as eliminating the ₹10 lakh cap on courier delivery and enabling direct online sales to foreign consumers.

Paying tribute to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, PM Modi claimed that the Meerut-Hapur area has long mirrored his views. “It has been the good fortune of our government that we got the privilege of conferring the Bharat Ratna upon Chaudhary Charan Singh ji,” he said, noting that the government is still committed to raising farmers’ incomes through food processing and the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi program.

In addition, the Prime Minister highlighted the changes in law and order and industrial development that Uttar Pradesh has seen, adding that the laying of the groundwork for the state’s first semiconductor plant is one example of how increased security has fostered economic and manufacturing growth as well as new investments.

UP is undergoing a transition into a manufacturing center,” he stated, adding that a developed Uttar Pradesh is necessary for creating a developed India.

The opening of the service, according to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, was a “major gift” for the state in advance of Holi since the travel time between Meerut and Delhi has decreased significantly over the past ten years.

“The distance from Meerut to Delhi was a challenge in and of itself ten to eleven years ago. It lasted for four to five hours. However, Delhi and Meerut are currently connected by a 12-lane highway and expressway. This distance is being further reduced by the Meerut Metro and the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, he said.
