On Thursday morning, an IndiGo flight carrying about 150 people from Surat to Dubai was rerouted to Ahmedabad due to a mechanical issue with the aircraft.
About an hour and a half after taking off from Surat at 9:30 a.m., the aircraft made a safe landing at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
The pilots detected a technical issue and performed a cautious emergency landing, according to confirmation from airport officials.
It took IndiGo about two hours to find a another plane for the passengers.
Around 1:45 p.m. local time, the replacement flight departed Ahmedabad and arrived in Dubai at 1:35 p.m.
IndiGo stated in a statement that a technical issue forced Flight 6E 1507, which was traveling from Surat to Dubai, to make a precautionary landing in Ahmedabad. Another plane was set up to make sure passengers arrived at their destination while the aircraft was conducting maintenance inspections.
“We offered meals and refreshments throughout the wait and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. The representative went on to say, “The safety and security of our customers and crew remains our top priority at IndiGo.”
Only a month has passed since another IndiGo flight from Delhi to Goa was forced to make a complete emergency landing in Mumbai due to an engine failure in midair.
On July 15, that plane, registered as flight 6E 6271, made a safe landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
On the other hand, IndiGo’s parent firm, InterGlobe Aviation, saw its shares finish at Rs 5,734 on Thursday, down Rs 316 or 5.22 percent on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The announcement that promoter Rakesh Gangwal’s family had sold equities for Rs 7,085 crore in a block deal caused the share price to plummet.
The promoter family is expected to sell 1.2 lakh shares, valued at Rs 7,085 crore, at an average price of Rs 5,830 each, according to several sources.
